Background of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Section Committee (formerly Specialised Section in Manufacturing and Systems Engineering)

Since the merger between the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the Institution of Manufacturing Engineers in October 1991, the Manufacturing Division of IEE has taken up a very significant role in promoting Manufacturing Engineering Discipline in UK. There is an immense need for the same discipline to form a similar organization in the Hong Kong Centre of IEE. In line with the mission of the IEE, the Specialised Section in Manufacturing and Systems Engineering is responsible for:

• promoting the advancement of manufacturing and systems engineering technology in Hong Kong and facilitating the exchanging of ideas and information among members,

• organising various types of professional activities for our members such as conferences, symposia, seminars and visits etc.,

• assisting our members in developing their careers by improving their capabilities as engineers and playing their full part in contributing to society,

• raising the standing and visibility of the profession, and maintaining a high standard of professional conduct.
